Shekinah Care Centre has been in operation for over 33 years and is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre. It is located in New Hanover, Kwa-Zulu Natal, just 35kms outside Pietermaritzburg.
The centre offers both short term and long term programmes which are aimed at orientating the guests towards a new style of healthy living, free from all substance abuse. They adopt a holistic treatment approach in that the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of substance dependants are addressed.
The guests receive individual attention from trained professionals and, due to the tranquil surroundings, are able to relax in a non-threatening environment. The treatment programmes include recovery therapy, relaxation exercises, recreation therapy, individual and group counselling, education and awareness lectures, occupational therapy and visits from the doctor. Staff include nursing sisters, physiatrist, occupational therapists, trained councillors, a social worker and care givers. The centre is registered with most medical aid schemes and offers extremely competitive rates.
